Our church is founded on 10 Core Values. These values make up the foundation of our praise and worship.
The 10 Core Values of Barn Church
- Value of Worship
- “I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole hear; I will tell of all Your marvelous works.” — Psalm 9:1, NKJV
- Are you going to have a “Mary” relationship or a “Martha” relationship with Jesus?
- “But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.” — Luke 10:40, NKJV
- “And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.” — Luke 10:41-42, NKJV
- The thing that Mary had chosen was to worship Him.
- We cannot serve Him unless we first worship Him.
- Are you going to have a “Mary” relationship or a “Martha” relationship with Jesus?
- When we worship God we acknowledge that He is:
- Omnipotent – All Powerful
- Omniscient – All Knowing
- Omnipresent – Everywhere at Once
- Holy
- Worship is what strengthens a believer — “He inhabits the praises of His people”.
- “I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole hear; I will tell of all Your marvelous works.” — Psalm 9:1, NKJV
- Value of the Word
- We believe that the Word of God is infallible.
- There is little room for “symbolic interpretation”.
- A literal interpretation is what we hold to.
- We are a full Gospel Church.
- We believe that God has not changed: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” — Hebrews 13:8, NKJV
- If it happened 2000 years ago, it is possible today. Miracles, or the lack therof, are not determined by God’s unwillingness to perform them, but by the condition of the Believer’s heart.
- The times have changed, but men’s hearts have not changed.
- “We read it, and we believe it”
- We believe that the Word of God is infallible.
- Value of Prayer
- “And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.'” — Matthew 21:13, NKJV
- Intercession is the key to revival.
- We need to “bind the strong man.”
- We need to loose the ministering spirits of the Lord on people and communities.
- Fasting is essential to powerful intercession.
- Value of Holiness
- We must raise the standard of personal purity.
- “All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify.” — 1 Corinthians 10:23, NKJV
- Cell Leaders must meet the standards of the Bishop in 1 Timothy 3.
- We must live a “crucified life”.
- “I have been crucified with Christ and It is no longer I that live, but Christ who lives in me, and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” — Galatians 2:20, NKJV
- We need to crucify the things in our lives that don’t edify the Body of Christ.
- We must raise the standard of personal purity.
- Value of Family
- We believe that the family is an institution of God.
- Healthy family relationships help us adjust to the blows of life.
- A strong family begins with Christ at its center.
- Marriage is a life-long covenant.
- God hates divorce.
- “For the husband is the head of the wife, as also Christ is the head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body.” — Ephesians 5:23, NKJV
- The relationship between a husband and a wife mimics the relationship between Christ and the Church.
- Children are to obey and honor their parents.
- Fathers are not to exasperate their children.
- The Fifth Commandmnet says to, “Honor your mother and father”.
- We believe that the family is an institution of God.
- Value of Evangelism
- All church activity must eventually boil down to winning the lost.
- We believe in the “Sure Judgment of the Lost” doctrine.
- The lost will perish if they do not make a decision for Christ.
- The Church’s primary purpose of existence is to save souls.
- Value of Giving
- We believe that God wants to “bless you so that you can be a blessing.”
- We embrace the values of Biblical giving rather than “materialism”.
- 2 Corinthians 9: “God loves a cheerful giver.”
- You must give out of love rather than duty.
- Value of Simplicity, Sincerity, and Sacrifice
- We place worth on the values of humility.
- “…not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.” — Romans 12:3, NKJV
- The Charismatic Church has to be vigilant in the area of humility.
- Sincerity is to be open and honest, without flaws that have been hidden.
- We have to be willing to sacrifice to advance the cause of Christ.
- We place worth on the values of humility.
- Value of Disciple Making
- The Great Commission: Matthew 28:19 — “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations…”
- We believe that if the Church is not making disciples, it is not performing the work that Christ commissioned it to do.
- Value of the Principle of the Twelve
- The five-fold ministry of Ephesians 4 is for the equippping of the Saints to do the “work of the ministry”.
- Every believer should persue his or her “Twelve”.
- The power of the Church is unleashed when the saints become active in Groups of Twelve.
- The “Traditional Church” is largely ineffective in its current state.
- God always intended for the discipling process to be carried out in small groups.
- We must reform the Church to effectively carry out the “Great Commission”.
